Having cleared the carpet of as much furniture as possible the first step in the process is the pre-vacuum. The powerful vacuum removes as much dry dirt as possible, leaving only stuck on dirt and stains. Vacuuming is also the first step in revitalising the pile on your carpets, leading to excellent results.
Pre-sprays
Having removed all the dry dirt and soil the next step is to loosen and dissolve the stuck on stains and to treat stains. As a standard wool safe cleaning chemicals are used, although following testing, badly soiled carpets or resistant stains can be treated with stronger chemicals. Stains are treated, and specific treatments are used for different types of stain. Stain removal is helped if you know what caused the stain, and if you have NOT used supermarket stain remedies. Not all stains are removable, especially older stains, these stains have become damage.
Agitation
Having pre-sprays on the surface of your carpet will not clean deep down in to the pile, nor can they break down dirt or break the bond of stains until they have been worked down into the pile. The agitation machine lifts the pile rejuvenating it, while allowing the treatments to reach right down into the pile.
Hot Water Extraction
The carpet is now ready for Hot Water Extraction. All the pre-sprays and treatments have been worked into the pile and have had time to dissolve dirt and weaken stains. Now just like the rinse cycle on your washing machine, we rinse away all the chemicals and the dirt is suspended in them. Hot water is pumped to the carpet cleaning tool, where it is sprayed under pressure into the carpet pile, then the tools powerful vacuum sucks away the cleaning solution and dirt. Extra strokes without the water, just the vacuum ensure as much water as possible is removed.
Sanitizing and pH neutralising
Cleaning chemicals are specially formalised to the correct pH (acidity) to remove dirt and stains, that pH will also attack the dyes in your carpet, and can damage wool/wool mix carpets. It is vital to return carpets to the correct pH, to normal. This is simply done with either a neutralising chemical in the cleaning solution or a spray following cleaning. Bad smells coming from urine or similar that has soaked into the carpet backing and down to the floor can be treated now with sanitizers, if needed.
StainGuard
With a clean fresh carpet, what better time to ensure that it stays that way? Sometimes previous treatments of protector have worn away from high traffic areas, and if it has been down for a long time having the carpet cleaned can remove remaining protector. The carpet is sprayed with a specially formulated protector, depending on the carpet this protector can be either solvent based or water based. The treatment although being dry takes 24 to 48 hours to cure. The spray is worked through the pile with a carpet grooming brush, and further coats ensure thorough treatment.
Carpet Pile Grooming
Your carpet is now fresh and clean, however the pile has been lifted, and different tools have gone across it in different directions. To ensure that your carpet looks its best, it is now groomed with a pile brush. This brush simply aligns the pile, and gives your carpet that fresh clean and untouched look.
Fast Dry
Finally to make sure you are able to use your room as soon as possible blowers, or volume air movers, blow air across the surface of your carpet, or upholstery. This really speeds up drying meaning you can get back to normal as soon as possible. The longer we can leave the blowers on the carpet the better, so if you have more than one room to clean, blowers may be used to dry one room, when I move on to clean the next one.
